In December 2022 NADO Flanders reported an anti-doping rule violation against the boxer after his sample tested positive for the prohibited substance Cocaine.
Following notification a provisional suspension was ordered. The Athlete filed a statement in his defence and he was heard for the NADO Flanders Disciplinary Commission.
The Athlete admitted the violation and denied the intentional use of the substance. He acknowledged that had used Cocaine recreationally and showed with evidence that he underwent treatment for his addiction.
The Commission finds that the presence of a prohibited substance has been established in the Athlete's sample and accordingly that he committed an anti-doping rule violation. The Commision accepts that the violation was not intentional and that the Athlete suffered from an addiction.
Therefore the NADO Flanders Disciplinary Commission decides on 20 February 2024 to impose a fine and a 2 year period of ineligibility on the Athlete.
This 2 year sanction is suspended under the condition that the Athlete follows a Substance of Abuse treatment program approved by NADO Flanders. Fees and expenses for this Commission shall be borne partially by the Athlete.
