FIFA 2022 FIFA vs Sabri Ali Mohamed

In Januari 2022 the International Football Federation (FIFA) has reported an anti-doping rule violation against the Djibouti football player Sabri Ali Mohamed after his A and B samples tested positive for the prohibited substance Testosterone.

After notification a provisional suspension was ordered. The Athlete filed a statement in his defence and he was heard for the FIFA Disciplinary Committee.

The Athlete admitted the violation and denied the intentional use of the substance. He stated that following advice of his fitness trainer he had used Testosterone through injections to improve his body whereas he was unaware of the doping rules.

The Disciplinary Committee finds that the presence of the prohibited substance has been established in the Athlete's samples and accordingly that he committed an anti-doping rule violation.

The Committee deems that the purpose of the injections was clearly to enhance his sporting performance and that the Athlete failed to demonstrate that the violation was not intention.

Therefore the FIFA Disciplinary Committee decides on 14 June 2022 to impose a 4 year period of ineligibility on the Athlete, starting on the date of the provisional suspension, i.e. 11 January 2022.
