World Athletics 2022 WA vs Fernando Ferreira

In September 2022 the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) on behalf of World Athletics has reported an anti-doping rule violation against the Brazilian Athlete Fernando Ferreira after his sample tested positive for the prohibited substance Cannabis in a concentration above the WADA threshold.

After notification the Athlete gave a prompt admission, waived his right for a hearing and accepted the sanction proposed by the AIU. Following the Athlete's explanation the AIU was satisfied that the Athlete had established that his ingestion of Cannabis occurred Out-of-Competition and was unrelated to sport performance.

The Athlete signed and submitted the Admission of Anti-Doping Rule Violations and Acceptance of Consequences Form. He did not follow a Substance of Abuse treatment program approved by the AIU to reduce the period of Ineligibility to 1 month.

Therefore the AIU decides on 9 December 2022 to impose a 3 month period of ineligibility on the Athlete, starting on 16 November 2022.
