FA 2013 Football Association vs Gerard Kinsella

Facts
The Football Association ("FA") charged Gerard Kinsella (the "player") for an omission of the Anti-Doping Rules. On 5 February 2013 he provided a sample of urine which contained 19-norandrosterone and 19- noretiocholanolone (metabolites of nandrolone) and nandrolone.

History
The player had injuries during his playing history, he took deca injections to cure his injuries. These injections contained the prohibited substances.

Decision
1. Gerard Kinsella committed an anti-doping rule violation, namely the presence in his urine sample taken on 5 February 2013 of 19-norandrosterone and 19-noretiocholanolone (metabolites of androlone) and nandrolone.
2. The appropriate penalty is a period of suspension from all football and football activities for a period of two years.
3. The suspension is effective (i.e. commences) from the date the sample was taken, namely 5 February 2013.

Costs
The hearing fee is to be retained by the FA, there is no order for costs of the hearing.
