April 15, 2013
On 20 July 2012 the Anti-Doping Committee - FIA Medical Commission (ACMC) decided to impose a 18 month period of ineligibility on Tomáš Enge (the Driver) for committing an anti-doping rule violation after his sample tested positive for the prohibited substances levmethamphetamine and amphetamine.
Hereafter the Driver appealed the FIA-decision with CAS.
On 15 April 2013 the Court of Arbitration for Sport decides to reject the Driver’s appeal against the decision of the FIA Anti-doping Disciplinary Committee. The CAS considered in particular:
- that the sanction pronounced by the FIA Anti-doping Disciplinary Committee was just and fair,
- and that the decision of that Committee was justified and based on a careful examination of the evidence submitted.
Also, the CAS sentenced the Driver to pay all the costs of the procedure before the CAS and to pay the FIA the sum of 5,000 CHF as a contribution towards the costs borne by the FIA.
