The UK Anti-Doping Organization (UKAD) reported in June 2014 an anti-doping rule violation against the athlete Vahid Hosseinpoor after his sample tested positive for the prohibited substance Tamoxifen.
After notification a provisional suspension was ordered. The athlete filed a statement in his defence and he was heard for the National Anti-Doping Panel.
The Athlete admitted the violation and stated that he was in the process for an examination for breast cancer because of a lump in his breast stroke. His general practitioner advised him to use tamoxifen for reducing the swelling, but didn't gave an prescription because it is a medicine which is not refunded by his health insurance. The athlete was able to get this medication despite it is only possible to get it with a prescription. He didn't use it to enhance his sport performance.
The Tribunal did not accept the athletes statement and concludes that the respondent failed to explain how the substance entered his body.
Therefore on 6 August 2014 the National Anti-Doping Panel decides to impose a 2 year period of ineligibility on the athlete.
Hereafter on 13 January 2017 the National Anti-Doping Panel decides to impose an new 1 year period of ineligibility on the athlete because of his breach of the initial decision.
