UKAD 2014 RFU vs Ralph Peter Wallace Cooke

The Rugby Football Union (RFU) charged Ralph Peter Wallace Cooke, the Player, for a violation of the Anti-Doping Rules. The player was selected, on December 31, 2013, for in-competition doping test. The analysis of the sample he provided showed the presence of trenbolone which is a prohibited substance according the World Anti-Doping Code prohibited list.

History
The athlete denies having used knowingly any banned substances, he does use supplements and thinks one of these had contained a prohormone causing the positive test. However the athlete is unable to explain the prohibited substance in his body, there is no potential for reduction of the period of ineligibility in the circumstances of this case.

Decision
The sanction is a period of ineligibility of two years, commencing on January 17, 2014. The period expires at midnight on January 16, 2016.
