IBU 2017 IBU vs Teja Gregorin
September 28, 2018

Ms. Teja Gregorin is a Slovene Athlete competing in the Women’s Biathlon events at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games.

In 2017, the IOC decided to perform further analyses on certain samples collected during the 2010 Olympic Games. These additional analyses were performed with analytical methods which were not available in 2010.

In September 2017 the International Olympic Committee (IOC) reported an anti-doping rule violation against the Athlete after her 2010 A and B samples tested positive for the prohibited substance GHRP-2. After notification the International Biathlon Union (IBU) ordered a provisional suspension. The Athlete submitted that she would not attend the hearing of the IOC Disciplinary Commission, she would not file a statement in her defence and that she would accept the IOC decision.

Based on the positive reanalysis results and the Athlete's acceptance of these results the IOC Disciplinary Commission concludes that the Athlete has committed an anti-doping rule violation consistent with the intentional use of a prohibited substance for the purspose of performance enhancement.

Therefore the IOC Disciplinary Commission decides on 18 December 2017 that the Athlete Teja Gregorin:

1.) is found to have committed anti-doping rule violations pursuant to Article 2 of The International Olympic Committee Anti-Doping Rules applicable to the XXI Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, 2010 (presence, and/or use, of Prohibited Substances and its Metabolites or Markers in an athlete's bodily specimen),

- (iii) the Women' s 15km biathlon event, in which she ranked 36th;
- (iv) the Women's 1 2.5km mass start biathlon event, in which she ranked 5th and for which she was awarded a diploma; and
- (v) the Women's 4x6km relay event, in which she ranked 81th and for which she was awarded diplomas;
3.) has the diplomas obtained in the above-mentioned events withdrawn and is ordered to return the same to the International Olympic Committee.
4.) The Slovenian Team is disqualified from the Women's 4x6km relay event. The corresponding diplomas are withdrawn and shall be returned to the International Olympic Committee.
5.) The International Biathlon Union Is requested to modify the results of the abovementioned events accordingly and to consider any further action within its own competence.
6.) The Olympic Committee of Slovenia Association of Sports Federations shall ensure full implementation of this decision.
7.) The Olympic Committee of Slovenia Association of Sports Federations shall notably secure the return to the International Olympic Committee, as soon as possible, of the diplomas awarded in connection with the Women's 12.5km mass start biathlon and the Women' s 4x6km relay event to the Athlete.
8.) The Olympic Committee of Slovenia Association of Sports Federations shall also secure the return to the International Olympic Committee, as soon as possible, of the diplomas awarded in connection with the Women's 4x6km relay event to the members of the Slovenian Team.
