In December 2018 the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya (ADAK) has reported an anti-doping rule violation against the Kenyan Athlete Naomi Jepngetich after her sample tested positive for the prohibited substances Androsterone, Etiocholanolone, 5α-Adiol and Testosterone. After notification a provisional suspension was ordered. The Athlete failed to respond to the ADAK communications, nor filed a statement in her defence and didn't attend the hearing of the Sports Disputes Tribunal of Kenya. The Tribunal holds that the Athlete was duly notified by ADAK and that the delays in the proceedings were contributed to the Athlete since she failed to respond to the ADAK communcations.
The Tribunal finds that the test results establish the presence of prohibited substances in her sample and accordingly that she committed an anti-doping rule violation. Further the Athlete failed to demonstrate that the violation was not intentional nor was it possible to verify that she had respected the provisional suspension.
Therefore the Sports Disputes Tribunal of Kenya decides on 2 October 2019 to impose a 4 year period of ineligibility on the Athlete starting on the date of the decision.
