SAIDS 2019_10 SAIDS vs Marchant Henning

In February 2019 the South African Institute for Drug-Free Sport (SAIDS) has reported an anti-doping rule violation against the rugby player Marchant Henning after his sample tested positive for the prohibited substances Oxandrolone and Stanozolol.

After notification a provisional suspension was ordered and the Athlete failed to respond to the SAIDS communications. Without the Athlete's response SAIDS deems that the Athlete has accepted the test result, waived his right for a hearing and accepted the sanction proposed by SAIDS.

SAIDS finds that the Athlete's sample established the presence of prohibited substances and accordingly that he committed an anti-doping rule violation without grounds for a reduced sanction.

Therefore SAIDS decides on 4 July 2019 to impose a 4 year period of ineligibility on the Athlete. Because there were delays in the proceedings not attributed to the Athlete SAIDS deems that the sanction starts on the date of the sample collection, i.e. on 26 August 2018.
