In November 2019 the South African Institute for Drug-Free Sport (SAIDS) has reported an anti-doping rule violation against the bodybuilder Shanti Mitchell after her A and B samples tested positive for the prohibited substances Clenbuterol, Furosemide, Letrozole, Mesterolone, Metenolone, Methylhexaneamine (dimethylpentylamine), Oxandrolone Sibutramine and Stanozolol.
After notification a provisional suspension was ordered and the Athlete failed to respond to the SAIDS communications. Without the Athlete's reponse SAIDS deems that the Athlete waived her right for a hearing, has accepted the test results and the sanction proposed by SAIDS.
SAIDS finds the that Athlete's sample established the presence of prohibited substances and accordingly that she committed an anti-doping rule violation. Therefore SAIDS decides on 29 January 2020 to impose a 4 year period of ineligibility on the Athlete starting on the date of the provisional suspension, i.e. on 4 November 2019.
