CCES 2021 CCES vs Arshjit Pelia

In December 2021 the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES) has reported an anti-doping rule violation against the football player Arshjit Pelia after his sample tested positive for the prohibited substance Dexamphetamine (d-amphetamine, dextroamphetamine). Following notification the Athlete accepted a provisional suspension.

In March 2022 the Athlete made an application for a retroactive TUE to the CCES which was denied. Thereupon the Athlete's appeal in this matter was ultimately dismissed by the Sport dispute Resolution Centre of Canada (SDRCC) on 26 September 2022.

After a Notice of Charge in November 2022 the Athlete admitted the violation, waived his right for a hearing, signed an Agreement on Consequences and accepted the sanction proposed by CCES.

Therefore CCES decides on 17 January 2023 to impose a 20 month period of ineligibility on the Athlete, starting on the date of the provisional suspension, i.e. on 17 December 2021.
