During an in competition doping test, the A-sample was tested positive on cannabis, which is a violation of the Anti-Doping Code. The defendant was at the oral hearing of the disciplinary committee of the Dutch Ice Hockey Federation (Nederlandse IJshockey Bond, NIJB) is dated May 30, 2007.
Cannabis is not regarded as a problem in the Dutch context, but the Ice Hockey Sport has an international dimension, Dutch standards are not suitable in this case. Although the substance wasn’t used to enhance sport performance the award is a two-year period of ineligibility till December 1, 2007.
