ADAK 2020 ADAK vs Michael Odhiambo
November 19, 2020

In February 2018 the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya (ADAK) has reported an anti-doping rule violation against the boxer Michael Odhiambo after his sample tested positive for the prohibited substance Cannabis in a high concentration above the WADA threshold.

After notification a provisional suspension was ordered. The Athlete failed to respond to the ADAK communications, he did not file a statement in his defence nor did he attend the hearing of the Tribunal.

Without the Athlete’s reponse the Panel concludes that the Athlete through intent, fault or negligence has committed the anti-doping violation. Therefore the Judiciary Office of the Kenya Sports Disputes Tribunal decides on 20 September 2018 to impose a 4 year period of ineligibility on the Athlete starting on the date of the provisional suspension, i.e. on 5 February 2018.
