The French Federation for Contact Sport and Associated Disciplines (Fédération Française de Sports de Contact et Disciplines Associées, FFSCDA) charges respondent M50 for a violation of the Anti-Doping Rules. During a match on May 13, 2010, a sample was taken for doping test purposes. The sample tested positive on indapamide. Indapamide is a prohibited substance according the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) prohibited list and it is regarded as a specified substance.

History
The respondent uses medication against high blood pressure, this medication is the cause of the positive test. He has medical statements to prove this fact, also regarding his age and being a recreative player there is no reason to use dope.

The respondent used medicine against high blood pressure from which he suffers since 2008. He has a certificate from his physician to state this fact. However the nature of the prohibited substance and the level on which the respondents takes part in competition it is necessary to impose a sanction.

During a match on June 20, 2010, a sample was taken for doping test purposes. The analysis of the sample showed the presence of heptaminol. Heptaminol is a prohibited substance according the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) prohibited list and it is regarded as a specified substance.

History
The respondent used medication to treat a pathologic decease from which she suffers for years, she has 2 medical certificates to prove her condition. She used the medication to stimulate the bloodflow to the lower limbs. Also because of her age there is no intention to boost her sport performance.

In April and May 2011 the Brazilian Cycling Confederation (CBC) has reported anti-doping rule violations against 3 cyclists after their samples tested positive for prohibited substances:

- the Athlete Rogério dos Reis for the substance Methylhexaneamine (dimethylpentylamine);
- the Athlete Edson Marcos de Carvalho Jr for the substance Stanozolol; and
- the Athlete Fábio José Miguel Ribeiro for the substances Cannabis and Methylhexaneamine (dimethylpentylamine).

After notification a provisional suspension was ordered. The Athletes filed statements in their defence and were heard for the CBC Anti-Doping Commission (CAD-CBC).

The Athlete Edson Marcos de Carvalho Jr denied the intentional use of the substance Stanozolol and asserted that a supplement he had purchased and used was the source of the positive test without any evidence in support of his assertion.

The Athlete Fábio José Miguel Ribeiro denied also the intentional use and explained that the supplement Jack3D he had used was the source of the positive test. Further he had used a product as treatment for his condition. Only afterwards he became aware that both these products contained the prohibited substances Methylhexaneamine and Cannabis.

The CBC Anti-Doping Commission (CAD-CBC) finds that the test result of the Athletes’ samples established the presence of prohibited substances and accordingly that they committed anti-doping rule violations.

Therefore the CAD-CBC decides on 23 May 2011:

1.) To impose a fine and a 6 month period of ineligibility on the Athlete Rogério dos Reis starting on the date of the notification i.e. on 4 May 2011;
2.) To impose a fine and a 2 year period of ineligibility on the Athlete Edson Marcos de Carvalho Jr starting on the date of the notification, i.e. on 20 April 2011;
3.) To impose a fine and a 8 month period of ineligibility on the Athlete Fábrio José Miguel Ribeiro starting on the date of the notification, i.e. on 20 April 2011.

A rapid and easy-to-use test kit, EPO WGA MAIIA, which can be used for distinguishing various endogenous human erythropoietins (hEPOs) and several recombinant hEPO and EPO analogues, has been evaluated. The test is based on chromatographic separation of the glycosylated isoforms of EPO using wheat germ agglutinin (WGA) and a sensitive immunoassay using anti-EPO carbon black nanostrings and image scanning for quantification. All of the reactions take place along the porous layer of a lateral flow microcolumn containing WGA and anti-EPO zones. The presence of molecules resembling hEPOs, such as Mircera, was detected by the aberrant affinity interaction with the antibody zone on the strip. It was possible to distinguish nine recombinant hEPOs expressed in hamster and human cell lines, as well as Aranesp and Mircera, from endogenous urine hEPO. The required amount of EPO in the samples, a few picograms, is very low compared with other methods for EPO isoform identification. This EPO isoform determination method opens the possibility to monitor recombinant EPO therapy for clinical research and seems to be a valuable candidate to the arsenal of EPO doping control tests.
