In February 2009 the Royal Dutch Billiards Associasion (KNBB) has reported an anti-doping rule violation against the Person after his sample tested positive for the prohibited substance Metoprolol. After notification the Person filed a statement in his defence and he was heard for the KNBB Disciplinary Committee.
The Person accepted the test result and explained with evidence that he used prescribed medication for his High Blood Pressure. He mentioned this on the Doping Control Form and had already applied in 2007 for a TUE. This application was still under review waiting for additional information from his medical specialist. Meanwhile the specialist had retired in 2007, no additonal information was submitted and so no valid TUE was granted.
The Disciplinary Committee accepts that the violation was not intentional and considers that the Person had mentioned his medication on the Doping Control Form and already had applied for a TUE. The Person was unaware that the TUE application had failed due to the retirement of the specialist. The Committee establish that this failure was not attributed to the Person and he was ordered to obtain a valid TUE as soon as possible.
Therefore the KNBB Disciplinary Committed decides on 14 May 2009 to impose only a reprimand on the Person.
Fees and expenses for this committee shall be borne by the Person.
